Family Heirlooms

Family collage paintings are custom paintings produced from a collection of photographs, and brought into one painting.

Loved ones of past can now be brought together in a family heirloom, creating memories and a legacy to past down and cherish through family generations.

In addition to custom portraits, other paintings include landscapes, still life, abstracts, and family collages.

Call today for your consultation of your family heirloom.

The Artist

Florence comes to the world of art, as a woman of faith, heritage, and personal conviction. Florence was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and holds fond memories of summers spent with family in the "Low South", Charleston, South Carolina.

In the early stages of her journey to the world of art, she found therapeutic and healing qualities through creating art. She went on to graduate from George Mason University's BIS program, (Bachelor of Individualized Study), with her core concentration being Art Therapy. After which, she has been able to use her gifts through teaching, serving as counselor, and through volunteer services.

The Heritage

Coming up as a child, Florence spent a lot of time in the south. Places in South Carolina included Charleston, Edisto Island, Walterboro, Ashepo, and Green Pond. Through her personal connections with her subjects, her paintings brings to life the actual faces of people whom she has once seen, talked to, or have been touched by in some way along her family line. Through the expression of her artwork, she comes from a place deep inside her heart, where beauty and culture are personally cherished.

Combining realistic style with sepia in monotones, her style maintains the antique feel and emotions of the past. "Aunt Liza" as seen on the cover, was the first in a series of paintings, which gives honor to her ancestors. This series is called the "Southern Heritage" collection. Aunt Liza captured the bold, yet humble and dignified spirit that so many had, as a true test of their faith and survival.

As a member of the Vienna Arts Society, Florence's work has shown in Washington, DC at Gallery 325, Martin Luther King Library, Eastern Market, in Northern Virginia at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Mount Vernon Hospital, and in Maryland at Stewart's Fine Art & Framing, in Upper Marlboro, MD.
